Door Surrounds; Red & Blue
Three different kinds of Red & Blue door surrounds commonly found in Victorian & Edwardian houses. Each has a different price-point and feel - Contact us for more information!
This East Melbourne Victorian terrace was having a modern renovation. The glass that was in it was a clear hammered that had been crudly spray painted red and blue! The Client wanted a simple clean look that was sympathetic to some of the vestibule doors inside. We used a Machined Antique textured glass. Needless to say the new glass breathed life back into the front entrance!

Beautiful reproduction piece of a Water-Nymph women sandblasted onto clear glass for an internal sliding door.
The Beauty of Corner Stars!
Just a little appreciation post on Corner Stars! These little gems are commonly found in Victorian and Edwardian style houses, in door surrounds, vestibule doors, sash-windows and highlights/fanlights! They are usually of a contrasting colour; red or blue - and are brilliant cut or acid etched. At Aurora Glass we have yet to get our hands on a brilliant cutting machine, so we have been employing our own sandblast methodology to reproduce these stunning glass products.
Recent Sandblasts
Sine we last posted we have been really getting into botanical layered sandblasts for doors, side-lights and shower screens! check out our latest projects!
Custom Victorian Leadlight
Last month we were thrilled to create a custom leadlight door surround for a house in East Melbourne. the client fell in love with a pair of stunning original Victorian leadlights she had found in South Australia and asked us to reconstruct them into a new design that would fit her space. see images below of the original windows and our designs.
Restoration for St Kilda Mansion
Recently we were invited to restore a red flashed window in a St Kilda Mansion that was built in 1887. Funnily enough when Brian went to measure and quote the job he soon realized that this wasn't the first time he had helped restore a window in this house! Over a decade ago he did some sandblasting work on the stunning St George and the Dragon lead light in the foyer, see photos below of this window and the red flashed panel that we worked on.
Lighthouse Tonal Sandblast
Another NEW panel that Scarlett worked on for the Aurora Glass Sandblasting display - A picturesque coastal scene of a Lighthouse, waves, clouds and birds. A perfect design for a coastal house sidelight or a bathroom window.
